‘Rochester’ (S. v. ‘Rochester’) While working as the director of Parks in Rochester, New York, Alvan Grant col­lected seed from ‘Edith Cavell’ (Lemoine, 1916) and selected one outstanding plant that he named ‘Rochester’ in 1971. Famous as a parent of ‘Arch McKean’, its waxy, multi-petalled flowers are lovely; hardy to Zone 3.
