‘Rochester’ (S. v. ‘Rochester’) While working as the director of Parks in Rochester, New York, Alvan Grant collected seed from ‘Edith Cavell’ (Lemoine, 1916) and selected one outstanding plant that he named ‘Rochester’ in 1971. Famous as a parent of ‘Arch McKean’, its waxy, multi-petalled flowers are lovely; hardy to Zone 3.
