For the past six years, Canada Post has issued a collection of two flower stamps. According to Anick Losier of Canada Post, the stamp advisory council makes their selection each year based on submitted ideas and special anniversaries. This year’s stamp showcases the African violet, which was chosen to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the African Violet Society of Canada.
Believe it or not, they’ve also already chosen the stamp for 2011—we just can’t reveal it yet!
2010 flower: The African violet
The violets shown here are ‘Picasso’ and ‘Decelles’ Avalanche. Both stamps. Both were grown by members of the Société des Saintpaulia de Montréal (SSM).
