Choosing your tulip bulbs in early fall
- Choose tulip bulbs that are large and firm; have no soft spots, bruises or blemishes; and feel heavy in relation to their size.
- Plant bulbs in clusters of seven to 15 bulbs.
- Choose varieties with different bloom times (early, mid-season or late) to extend the blooming period. Choose a blend of colours and differing heights for the best effect.
- Store bulbs in a cool, dry place until they are planted, at temperatures between 10 and 15 C (50 to 60 F).
