From blossoms and bulbs, to eco-friendly landscaping, this year’s show provided endless inspiration for gardeners

This year marked the 15th anniversary of Canada Blooms. The ‘Rhythms’ theme was à propos as it tied in with the JUNO Awards’ 40th birthday. Artistic director Columba Fuller started incorporating the JUNOs into the overall plan last June. The results were spectacular collaborations between musicians and garden designers that added to the rest of the gorgeous gardens on display.

Here are some highlights from the event.

A colourful welcome
The folks at Landscape Ontario were kind enough to give me a sneak peek of their plans pre-show, which I shared here on the site. 40 companies, 200 volunteers and dozens of students helped turn their ideas into a living, breathing reality. I loved the willow trees with their delicate twinkle lights, the living wall with its 4,000 colourful kalanchoes and the “piano keys” which tie into the music theme and show what can be done with green roofs.
