Ronald Holbrook
One of my favourite gardens at Canada Blooms this year is called 'Connected' which is designed by Ronald Holbrook, one of my favourite landscape designers. It actually won an award for 'Best Hard Landscaping,' which we can see through the beautiful stonework. The sponsor is actually the Canadian Cancer Society, and that's reflected through these amazing yellow daffodils - which I think are perfect for this time of year.

One of my favourite elements with this garden is the use of water. It creates this tranquil sound, which I'm sure we can hear right now. But look how it's just this elevated piece of stone and the water is just gurgling up, it's so gorgeous.

Over here I want to show you my other favourite element, it's reflecting the idea of taking the same type of stone and replicating it. All they've done is stacked it and created this really cool little bench, very simple to do. You need to make sure of course that your ground is very level - but look how cool and chic this is. I really love this garden!

Jardins de Metis / Redford Gardens
Alright, what does this make you think of? To me, this is that pine-smelling hanger from your rearview mirror in your car. And that’s exactly what the 'Jardins de Metis' or 'Reford Gardens' came up with when they put this garden together. Which is actually called 'Come Play in the Garden.' You won't find anything live in this garden, but that's kind of the fun. What we're looking at is really, what do plants mean to us? What does planting mean? And I’m going to show you that people actually have an opportunity to plant these trees. So come with me and I'll show you where I’m going to plant it.

So if we look at this, we've got fake turf, we've got what almost looks like mulch, and then these really fun neon spots, et voila! I’ve planted my tree!

Urban Belief
Small space gardening is close to my heart because I have a teeny, teeny garden in mid-town Toronto. And one of the things that's so sad about it is that most of the garden is taken up by my car. So you can imagine my delight when I walked into this beautiful space designed by 'Urban Belief,' and saw this. This is my dream garden! Everything from the colour coordinated door with the purple and green, to the beautiful purple hydrangea, and the way that the designer has taken all of these elements and made detail. We've got this beautiful little demi-loon here, our fabulous little round - although it may not be practical it's so pretty in the spring, our beautiful purple pansies and a bit of moss, very fun. The other thing that I really love is this great little seat that kind of looks like a pergola, very garden inspired; and of course the mirror to check your lipstick when you're on your way out to work. Finally, over here are these planted lanterns which are so fun! And I love this ivy that is trailing down. And then even better, because of course we don't have a lot of room for a big tree here, check out this gorgeous art piece. It's out of an old root system and it looks like a sculpture – it's fantastic, I love this space.
